If you are interested in developing in Christian ministry or Christian leadership, the Christian Ministry Degree Program at HCU is for you. HCU exists to help you develop a strong Bible foundation and equip you with the necessary tools to fulfill your God-given purpose in the area of Christian ministry.
HCU’s Christian Ministry Degree Program provides a balanced and solid Bible foundation that will enable you to thrive in your church and community. The Christian Ministry Degree Program will build a foundation of truth and faith in who God is, who you are in Him, and how you can become a leader in the local church, supporting the vision of your church leadership and pastor.
Study on your own time, anywhere and anyplace without leaving your church or community. New courses begin every five weeks. The time you spend today investing in your God-given calling will provide a lifetime of blessing and reward for you and for your local church.

Each undergraduate course includes:
- 12 sessions of 50-60 minute video classes
- Each course includes a required textbook that can be easily accessed for download or purchased as a digital or hard copy. If a digital textbook is included, it can be accessed through the course page along with a course syllabus

CURRICULUM (Sample First-Year Core Courses)
First-Year Curriculum also requires the student to choose 2 elective courses from a wide-range of electives available from the College of Theology and the College of Business. Please consult with an Admissions Advisor for specific courses that may be available.
EFFECTIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES (HCUT 1002)
Course Description: Explore the fundamentals of creating personalized learning strategies. Examine learning styles and techniques while being oriented to the college experience. Insights gained will increase learning, retention, and application of information acquired throughout the college experience and beyond.
THE INTEGRITY OF GOD’S WORD (THEO 1103)
Course Description: Recognize the importance and necessity of God’s Word in the life of a believer. Emphasis is placed upon what the Bible says about itself, the seamless flow throughout the sixty-six books written by over forty authors, and the believer’s experience with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
FAITH FOUNDATIONS I (THEO 1203)
Course Description: An introductory study of the principles of faith and its operation in the life of the believer. Explore the basic definition of faith, how faith is obtained, and how faith is released and maintained.
THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER (THEO 1303)
Course Description: Explore the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. Special attention is given to the characteristics, abilities, and functions of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. Examination the scriptural ways in which the Holy Spirit can lead believers. Special emphasis will be on the primary way: the inward witness. The student will develop the confidence and intimacy necessary to be led by the Holy Spirit.
NEW CREATION REALITIES (THEO 1403)
Course Description: Gain an awareness of the realities of the new birth through the redemptive work of Christ. How one becomes a new creation, the benefits of a new creation, and the need to grow as a new creation will be examined.
PRINCIPLES OF PRAYER I (THEO 1503)
Course Description: Explore the “why,” “what,” and “how” of prayer. The different types of prayer and how to pray more effectively are examined in this foundational course.
CHRIST THE HEALER (THEO 1603)
Course Description: Identify the biblical truths about healing. Emphasis is placed upon the willingness of God and the covenant promises of obtaining and maintaining the physical healing of the body. Case studies from the Old and New Testament will be examined.
THE AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER (THEO 1703)
Course Description: An intensive study of the spiritual authority of the believer. Attention is given to identifying the real enemy, the extent of and how the devil obtained his authority, and how he is disarmed and defeated by the believer through the authority delegated to the body of Christ.
LEADERSHIP 1 – PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (PMIN 1003)
Course Description: Discover the foundation for successful leadership. Uncover the value of being a lifelong learner and developing daily disciplines like prayer and Bible reading. Review the importance of attending church, and other principles that help future leaders attain long-term success in God’s kingdom. Explore vital personal disciplines like integrity, accountability, and being an effective witness for the Lord. Emphasis is also placed upon the role of coaching and mentoring in the life of a believer.
